Not quite as I planned…….

Well I haven’t had it all my own way at the last two rounds like I guess I’ve had for most of the season. At Cadwell my bike was a bit sick and I was sat down at Croft and given a lesson on the colours of the flags – whoops! Croft was all going to plan and I set pole position again, there were a few more people out on the track that might have put up a challenge, one was Kiyo making a one off round appearance for HM Plant, Tommy Hill was out on the Hydrex bike, Brooksey was back and Karl Harris had moved to Yamaha. I didn’t really know what to expect or how any of them would go and if they would become a serious threat during the race.

However, come race day I managed to make a bit of a pigs ear of it myself. I didn’t get settled into the first race easily and made a few silly mistakes, which saw me running wide a couple of times. Around lap four I ran massively wide and ended up in the potato field and miles off the track and off any rider on the track for that matter. Once I finally got back to the circuit I think I was about eight seconds off the last man on the track and about 30 seconds off the leaders – not ideal.

I had to ‘kick up a gear’ on the Airwaves Yamaha and dig deep, I was angry with myself at this point and just got my head down. I eventually caught the last man and then I had to start making the passes without doing anything stupid. I kept plugging away and managed to get myself to sixth place, not too bad considering how far off the track I went. I had to make it happen in the second race and I got focussed on the job in hand, Croft is a circuit I’ve always liked and always ridden well at so I knew I could get a good result there.

I managed to keep it real in the second race and take my 16th win of the year but also managed to secure GSE’s 5th Championship win so everyone was pretty chuffed about that. Now I can possibly win the Championship at Silverstone as long as everything goes right and hopefully it will.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the fans who have supported me this year, brought me gifts (and stocked us up with sweets!!!), the messages on my guestbook and everything everyone has done for me so far this season. The support at every round has been great and I’d like to personally thank everyone for that and hope it continues in the future!!

Thanks again
