Leon’s Training Camp

Training Days in B’Town!
www.leoncamier.com

Visk British Superbike Championship leader Leon Camier continued his training schedule this week in preparation for round five at Snetterton. Camier rounded up the troops, which included Josh Brookes, MX rider Kristian Whatley, Supersport rider Dan Linfoot, Leon’s manager Andy Walker (Storka) and Leon and Kristian’s trainer Julian Clark.

Storka arranged a two day intensive training session in Bournemouth and invited Dan Linfoot down from Yorkshire to put him through his paces in the run up to Snetterton. On day one, the group participated in a 35-mile mountain bike ride around the New Forest, followed by a relaxing evening at Andy’s house in the Hot Tub and some good food at the local Italian, Topogio. (Leon’s favourite!)

Day two, Tuesday was action packed. Starting the day having a play on the Monty’s with Storka and Brooksey leading the way on how it should be done (or not in Storka’s case, suffering a big crash). Next up was the trials bikes and once again this is a fine art to master for the road racers in the group…..!

After a cycle ride down the beach the riders wound down with some stretching exercises before heading up to the MX track. This was Dan’s first time on a MX track and so he was just given the opportunity to have a steady ride round and get a feel for the MX bike and how it works. Leon wanted to show Dan that by using others forms of bikes to keep fit puts every different muscle through its paces, be it cycling, trials or MX and how much each can build on fitness and improve their racing on the track.

Brooksey and Kristian were in their element on the MX bikes and led the way, and left the others in ore whilst they threw out some big moves. Leon, had to stand on the sidelines for this one and watch the others play as he has three big weekends coming up with Snetterton, the wild card ride at Donington World Superbikes then Knockhill.

Julian Clark was once again instrumental to all the riders showing them what can be done to improve their body and fitness techniques by using different methods and strategies.

Dan left in the evening for the long drive back to Yorkshire, but the Yorkshire trek is already planned for the week before Knockhill, where Dan will be back out on the mountain bikes and trials bikes again with Leon and Storka in another fitness challenge.

Leon Camier is keen to help a young rider progress and has been watching Dan for most of the season commenting, “Dan’s a good lad, I’ve been watching his progress in the British Supersport Championship closely and I want to help a rider progress through the ranks. We got Dan down to Bournemouth to see how he trains and how he got on, he did a good job and hopefully this will continue as the season progresses. I’m trying to help as much as I can at the races with Dan, helping him with lines on the track and also helping him prepare for the race. He’s young and eager and it would be nice to see him get a good result at Snetterton.”

Dan’s version of events will follow after Snetterton……
